What to expect
The Kaʻū Coffee Festival, now in its 17th annual edition, celebrates the specialty coffee industry that farming families built in Kaʻū district over more than 25 years, transforming a community shaped by plantation-era sugar agriculture into a producer of award-winning coffees. The festival's organizing ethos centers on malama ʻaina — land stewardship — as the foundation of this agricultural reinvention.
The week-long program culminates on June 20 with a free public Ho'olaule'a at the Pāhala Community Center, featuring live music, hula performances, artisan crafts, educational booths, and local food vendors. A Ka'ū Coffee Experience from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. offers guided tastings with coffees prepared by professional baristas using multiple brewing methods.
