What to expect
Aloha Festivals traces its roots to 1946, when former members of the local Junior Chamber of Commerce launched "Aloha Week" to help Hawaiians reconnect with their cultural identity after World War II. The program, later rebranded Aloha Festivals in 1991 and organized by volunteer-run island chapters, now spans the Hawaiian islands; Festivals of Aloha Maui Nui produces the Maui County events including this Hāna celebration.
The opening Saturday centers on a parade through Hāna town at 9 a.m., with local families, schools, hālau hula, and community groups marching together. A Hoʻolauleʻa at Hāna Ballpark follows, featuring Hawaiian music, hula performances, and local food vendors; a Crafters Fair runs concurrently from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
