What to expect
The Mango Festival in Kailua-Kona has been organized by Randyl Rupar through his nonprofit Mana Keʻa Gardens (also billed as Sanctuary of Mana Keʻa Gardens) since approximately 2009; the 11th annual edition was held in 2019 and the 14th in 2024. The Big Island Mayor's Office issued a Proclamation recognizing an official Mango Day on the island in connection with the festival.
The free, zero-waste event features morning agricultural presentations on mango grafting, Hawaiian mango history, and grove management, with grafted mango trees available for purchase. Chef demonstrations and mango food tastings run through the afternoon alongside local artisan vendors, crafts, and live music.
